Black Bow and Pink Stripes

So I wanted to do nail art, but I was not inspired enough to do a specific design. So I stuck to a color and added bows. Seem simple enough. Haven't done anything like that in a while.. glitters are easy and not enough of a challenge. Hooray for freehand nail art!! ^^

My bows are still slightly wonky but I am glad that my lines are so much thinner. I used to get thick lines only. Tried to get a diamond on the bows but they look weird. Plus I'm not allowed 3D art at work. =(

Swatch: China Glaze Light As Air

I don't think I have yet to swatch this so I'm doing it now. I was looking for a lavender to wear so I had this on. This is a pale pastel purple and it is a pleasure to work with. This is three coats.

And this awkward position is my right hand. And the odd shadow on the left corner is my awkward left hand.

I'm not taking pictures of my right hand anymore unless its a life-or-death situation..

Put a Smile(y) on my Nails

I wanted to test out OPI The 'It' Color and my Bundle Monster Plates so I decided on this design. It fits perfectly and makes everyone smile when they saw it. This is why I love plain polishes, as in those without glitters. Because I am able to do nail art with them!

I used BM 304 for this design. Stamped with China Glaze Liquid Leather.

Aren't these a dear?

The BM304 are nice to stamp with, though when I tried on the big half smiley, I keep scraping off the polish. After a few tries I gave up. Do u have any tips on how to handle that design?

Glitterdaze: White Widow

I'm trying to swatch all my glitters. Heh.

This is White Widow from Glitterdaze. Somehow I thought it would be more white and less grey. I looked at the pics on google and apparently it's suppose to be white. So mine is the weird one. Lol.

This is 2 coats of OPI Don't Touch My Tutu, 1 coat of White Widow, 1 coat of DTMT, and one coat of WW.

Maybe White Widow has a chemical reaction with Don't Touch My Tutu!?

I thought it would look better if it is whiter, and has more green glitters than black glitters. This reminds me of my bottle of Nerdlacquer Don't Blink. It's a grey glitter polish. You can see my swatch here

All That Glitters: Cha Cha Twist

All That Glitters Cha Cha Twist makes me fall in love with glitter polish. Before, I have a love-hate relationship with glitter polishes. They are nice, pretty, but they don't make me want to wear them twice. Plus  the removal is a chore.

I bought Cha Cha Twist because I love red and blue. This polish not only fits the requirements, but it has a depth to it that surprises me! It even has large silver hex glitters, with small black glitters. I wore this for the first day, and I can't wait to take it off and wear it again!!

This is 2 coats of OPI Dating a Royal and a thin coat of Cha Cha Twist (Index Finger) and thick coats of Cha Cha Twist ( The rest).

The pic below is blurred but u can see the glitters clearly.

Hooray for Cha Cha Twist!!

Models Own Ibiza Mix over Orly Sweet Peacock

Yup, still using glitter before I forget them again. I'm expecting my haul from LushLacquer anyday now.. Phew. It cost a bomb but it's totally worth it!! Plus I got 2 of the series of colors that they are going to discontinue: Salsa Verde and Cheetahlicious. Absolutely can't wait! *Rub hands in glee!*

This is Models Own Ibiza Mix. I thought it would look different over a shiny base and it doesn't look too shabby. Ibiza Mix is a pastel glitter. Pastel! How often do you see pastel glitter??

Swatch: Orly Sweet Peacock

I had yet to own any Orly polish yet, but I managed to snag three the other day. This is Sweet Peacock, which I had my eyes on a long time because it is just soooooo pretty!! It is a bright blue foil with blue shimmer. And guess what? This is one-coat only! I suppose I could do another coat but the coverage for this polish is just awesome! Almost like A England's Dragon!

My bf says this is his favorite color from now on. =)

Cirque Potosi over China Glaze Pink Plumeria

Sometimes I forget that I have several bottles of awesome glitters lying around. There I was, rummaging through my stash to find a polish that would inspire me because I am used to wearing nail art and plain polish is so boring, when my eyes fell upon my new bottle of Potosi from Cirque which I ordered from MeiMei's Signature at S$16. It is silver shard glitter with smaller gold and silver glitter suspended in a clear base.

I am on the fence about shards before this, as I thought they have a tendency to look messy. But look at this! I'm falling in love!!

I like how the shards don't overwhelm the nails, just enough to jazz up the nails, but at the same time allowing the base polish to shine through.

Application, as I understand, can be quite hard. But there is this little trick to help you get the glitters out easily. Just tilt the bottle each time when you get the polish out, and when u pull out the brush, try not to touch the sides of the bottle. Trust me, you'll get a dollop of polish full of glitter! It does not mean your nail will become goopy with polish, because as far as I can tell, most glitter polish dries pretty fast!

I went to work with this nails on, and I'm really loving it!! There's a sweet lavender smell too because the polish-maker added in lavender oil! Is that not original? I keep smelling my nails throughout the day, I can't help it! Haha.

Swatch: China Glaze Pink Plumeria

You know how it is when you felt 'meh' about a polish and it just jumped out and surprise you? Pink Plumeria did it! I was so blown away by the color that I immediately researched on the rest of the China Glaze Summer Neon 2012 collection so I can get the rest of them! Pink Plumeria is just stunning!

This is a neon, yet not a neon. I did a underwear coat of white, but according to other bloggers, it does not require one. This polish is not only bright, it has shimmer! I have fallen in love here, seriously. How can I reject neons when they are so awesome?

I've got plenty that I wanted to buy, and now Pink Plumeria has just single-handedly overload my budget. She has officially pulled out the big guns on my wallet!!

Sunset Themed Ruffle Mani

Did Ruffle Mani again because I love the Smurf ones too much. I fixed the overlapping problem from the first time too. Now my ruffles are crisp and clear. Okay, the ruffles can be straighter though.. and more pronounced.

This is done with OPI Alpine Snow, OPI The 'It' Color, and OPI A Roll In The Hague.

Have  you tried Ruffle Mani yet?

The Cling Wrap Method

I saw a couple of photos on the 'Cling Wrap Method' nails and I was hooked. So I pinched my mom's cling wrap and tried it. I like how it turned out!

I had Essie To Buy Or Not To Buy as a base color, den I 'cling wrap' sponge it with Elianto Maroon. This is different from using a regular sponge, since a sponge does absorb but a cling wrap does not. I put on too much polish on my ring finger so it came out as a blob of color. So I rescued it by 'cling wrap' it over with To Buy Or Not To Buy. It'll look like the picture below. A mess, I know.

I took out my mini bottle of OPI Pirouette My Whistle and layered it on. Then a coat of Seche Vite.

One more pic of the end product! Does it not look pretty? I love the white slightly-translucent glitter from Pirouette My Whistle!

Swatch: Essie To Buy Or Not To Buy

This polish's name is To Buy Or Not To Buy and I debated over buying this polish long and hard because this polish has blue shimmer in the bottle. I was worried that it would not transfer over to the nails but decided to take the plunge. In the end, the shimmer really does not show up on the nail. It is like a normal pastel lavender creme, except with a hint of disappointment.

The above picture is the most color-correct. You can also see the blue shimmer in the bottle. The tiny bumps on my nails are air bubbles. Yucks! I wore this color twice and I got bubbles both times.

Yellow Leopard Prints over CG Aquadelic

Can anything ever beat Leopard Prints? Being the easiest and fastest nail design, even for beginners, leopard prints is my to-go design. The number of different colors you can mix up is just crazzzzy. I always try to challenge myself with contrasting colors.

I love China Glaze Lemon Fizz! It is so flattering on me, and so bright and cheerful! It's a soft pastel yellow that I just cannot do without. I put on random dots with Lemon Fizz and made dark shapes with CG Liquid Leather.

My colleagues love it! Haha. It's just too striking not to be noticed, I guess.

Swatch: China Glaze Aquadelic

Got this polish after debating between Aquadelic and For Audrey. I know that For Audrey is one of the popular shades from China Glaze, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy that shade. I had Re-fresh Mint in my stash, and when compared, For Audrey is an in-between shade between Aquadelic and Re-fresh Mint. And I'm not quite sure what to do with such a close shade, so I dump For Audrey, and picked up Aquadelic.

Here it is. I love greens! This is blue tinged and looked a little turquoise-y.

Three coats, I believe, with no top coat.

Swatch: China Glaze Electric Beat

This bottle has been lying in my to-be-swatched pile for a period of time. Dug it up so that I could make space in that box.. for more polishes! Lol. Can't wait for payday!!! I've actually made a list of to-buys for this month! I've got my eye on the glitters from AphroditeLacquers.. =D

This is a nice blue, easy application. This is three coats I believe. Sorry for the lousy cleanup around the cuticles.

I would have done some nail art for this except that it chipped the next day and I was too tired to fix it up.

Wahhhh... I think anything that is blue-tinged looks nice on me! That's why red-toned purple looks hideous on me. Seriously.

White Shatter over Sneeze Breeze

I've got The Hungry Asian's Sneeze Breeze and was debating what to do when I saw my White Shatter. It has been neglected because I don't see what I could do with it! Anyway, I layered it over Sneeze Breeze. I don't use white shatter often because sometimes it turned out weirdly, like the tip of my index finger and my ring finger. The white does not look as pretty as my middle finger. And of course my middle finger has to have an odd shape at the cuticle. God forbid my white shatter turns out perfectly. -.-

Probably have to put on a thick thick coat for my white shatter...

This bottle is brought back by my beloved bf from Taiwan, so I'm not sure of the brand.. But it's so thoughtful of him to search for it, don't you think?

I love how I can still catch a glimpse of the glitters of Sneeze Breeze from underneath the 'cracks' of white shatter. It certainly is a different way to wear the polish.
