Leopard Prints with a Twist No. 1

As I am writing this, my eyes are screaming at me to sleep but my brain refuses to shut down. I came home at 3am last night from an outing with my colleagues, and only managed to sleep at 5plus because I drank coffee!!! Does it affect you like this? I think I slept for 2hours at most! Now I can't sleep anymore. =( *Zombified*

This is one of my take on Leopard Prints. Leopard prints is a classic, and there are many ways to wear it! I've thought of a few that I have yet to try out; I'm going to.. soon. My work is taking over me though. But there's always time for nails! =)

Did this with Elianto S02 and an index-middle accent with Elianto 04(egg shell). Then I printed leopard prints with my Konad M57 and added some dots with Elianto 09 (Coral Light).

I think the nude is a little dark so the contrast with the black doesn't show up as well.

I'm not going to talk anymore because there is a possibility I'm gonna start blabbering and don't make sense. So enjoy your weekend!

Inspired Glittered Dots

I started my part-time job yesterday, and it was not so bad. I'm heading back today again. I'm really tired, and a little overwhelmed. but I try to keep myself cheerful by thinking about all the things I can get when I got paid. >.<

This design is inspired by BlogNailedIt. I saw this post a while ago and thought it looked like gradient glitter, except it is done with a dotting tool, and not real glitters. I'm still on my Index-Middle accent so I did my glitter on other nails, and chose a contrasting color for my accent fingers.

Polished used: Elianto S06 for the accent, OPI Step Right Up! for the rest of my nails. For the dots: Elianto Coral Light 09, TheFaceShop OR201

This is a close up of my thumb. I really like the Glittered-Dots effect, so I'm definitely going to do this again!

And this is a pic of my nails with the OPI bottle. I was looking for an off-white, and got Step Right Up! instead. It's a jelly, which put me off until I learned about jelly sandwich, and suddenly, all my jellys seemed so awesome! I even got a few more! I'm lemming OPI My Pointe Exactly now! =)

Roses over Choose Me!

I'm not sure why but the weekend was extremely long for me. It's like the hours are torturously (there's no such word, right?) slow, except who am I kidding, we all live for the weekends! Especially Saturdays, which is what I termed 'Date Day!'. Anyway, this is relevant because somehow, over the weekend, I ended up buying some polishes on Etsy! Yes! Finally!! I cannot wait for them to come! Haha.

So, here is the mani that I wore on my M'sia trip. It's Essence Choose Me! stamped with white roses.

It's certainly nice. But I like my nails to be 'spicier'! Hehe. I'm in a pretty good mood. If only my bf can take a week off, I'd love to bask on the beach with him. =)

M'sia Trip Haul

This is my M'sia Trip Haul. It was quite funny. I wore Essence Choose Me! with white roses stamped over them for the trip. One of the customers saw my nails at Elianto and asked me how I did them. So I tried, to my very best, to describe nail art stamping to them. I think she was confused, but was too polite to say anything. Haha. When I proceeded to fill my basket with polishes (I'm a fan of Elianto, plus it's cheap). she was like 'Oh, wow. You're certainly buying a lot!" Hehe. I just smiled, and hide the fact that I have over 100 polishes to myself. No one needs to know I'm crazy... Lol.

So here is my list:

Elianto: 27(Turquoise), S06, 09(Coral Light), S02, S09 @ RM5.50

Elianto: 29(Blue Splash), 04(egg shell), 03(Shine Opal) @ RM5.50

TheFaceShop: WH001, OR201, PK101 @ 3for RM12

SkinFood. This has no name, but is a blue and purple glitter. This reminds me of Models Own Disco Mix. Perhaps I'll do a comparison post of them.

Well, here's a piece of good news. I got a part-time job. So perhaps I can save up some money for polishes, and books (my love affair with books started long ago before polishes), and a trip to London!! Hehe. The trip needs to wait until next summer, but I've been waiting for 21 years, what's one year more?

Swatch: Essence Choose Me!!

Have you heard of Zoya Charla? How about OPI Catch Me In Your Net? The former is more readily available but the latter is sadly discontinued. Never fear, because Essence Choose Me! is their dupes!

I bought this from Watsons at only $2.80! Such an amazing price for such a pretty color!

This is 3 coats. It is a greenish-blue with plenty of gold shimmer.

I love how the color shines out in the sun!

I'm including a comparison by Kayla Shevonne here

Swatch: TheFaceShop Melon Orange (OR201)

This is one of the polishes I got during my trip to M'sia. This is TheFaceShop Melon Orange. (OR201) I thought it would make a bright color to own, since it's summer and I had realize I didn't own plenty of bright/neon colors. This is not neon, but I love this shade!

My fingers appeared slightly bloodless in the photos but the polish is the exact shade. The polish dried a shade darker than the bottle, but essentially, there's not much difference.

This polish is extremely streaky! And so thin! I had on 4 coat, which made it much better. This was my second time putting it on, and if not for the beautiful shade, I'd have hide it away from my sight! The sacrifices we make for our polishes...

I've just ordered Cirque Debris and Tibetan Night! Both polishes are beautiful!! I can't wait to get my paws on them!! ^^

Beach on my Nails!

Running out of ideas for nail art. I should go back to leopard prints. Haha. Anyway, I did this design to commemorate the really really hot weather we are having here. Singapore is hot all year round, since we are close to the equator, but these few weeks are unbearably hot!

Anyway, it's summer, and since I'm running out of ideas for my nails, I decided to do a beach scene! The index and middle accent nails shows a beach towel on a beach. I drew in a crab, seashell and a starfish too.

I sponged on Essie Topless and Barefoot (isn't that beach appropriate), China Glaze Electric Beat and OPI Suzi says Feng Shui. To make the water more realistic, I painted the sea with OPI Go On Green, which is a sheer blue that changes into green sometimes. Then I freehand the crab, seashell and starfish with OPI In My Back Pocket and TheFaceShop Melon Orange (Swatch coming soon.)

For the towel, I painted Elianto Coral Light and Michelle 08.

This is taken in the sun. Can you see the hint of green in the sea?

I came back from Malaysia with a haul (>.<) of 11polishes! Can you blame me? Things are so cheap there!! I'll post up the pics... if ever.. I still have my May Exam Haul post I haven't shared.. =( I'll post it up soon! If not, there's always my swatches! I'm so backup on it that my untried box is positively overflowing!!

I'm entering this into Nailasaurus Load n' Vote Contest. Since the prize is Essie Summer Collection 2012, I thought this design is appropriate! You can join in the fun here too!

Ruffian Mani

This is my first ruffian mani and it turned out better than I expected!! I am definitely trying this again!!

This is done with two polishes, gold polish from TheFaceShop and OPI Lincoln Park After Dark. This is a simple yet very classic design.

I'm especially pleased with my thumb. It looked so purrrrrr-fect.

Did you see the shimmer in the OPI bottle? I seldom used this polish because it is purple (and purple looks ugly on me) and it is so dark sometimes it's black(and I don't wear black polishes). But under the light/sunlight, the shimmer in this polish shines through! Maybe I should find more ways to wear this polish.

Swatch: Skull and Glossbones

Nothing much to say here otherwise.

Musical Chairs.. I mean, Nails

I wore this out to the last day of Singapore Arts Festival  with my bf. They had loads of performance that continued until 1am and the music was just awesome!

Now on to the nails...

I painted my base colors with OPI Panda-monium Pink and Kiss me on my Tulips. I was quite pleased with how well they go together. Then, I drew the musical notes with a small detail brush with China Glaze Liquid Leather and made random dots around the notes!

Look at my thumb! I love my treble clef! Haha.

I love my nails so much that I photo-spam here. Haha.

My Fiercely Fiona Franken

Here it is: My Fiercely Fiona Franken! I said a while ago that I was trying to franken the color since it has been discontinued. I have yet to perfect it but this is what I have.

This is three coats. It looks streaky but I am sure that a Seche Vite Top Coat will perfect it. Should I make it less thick though?
I have got an accent cloud design below. The green is Essence Lime Up! which is a most gorgeous lime green ever! I have yet to swatch it but I will! I dew the black line to emphasize on the yellow and and green shades.

Do you think my franken is close enough to the actual thing? Or does it need more green? Please comment!

Splatter Paint!

I had splatter paint nail art listed as one of my 'to-dos' but it got pushed away until now. Sadly, the colors I chose for this aren't very bright so I may have to redo again. If I ever do.

There are many ways to do splatter paint nail art and this is one of the ways. I used a dotting tool with this as well. The other way involves straws and is much messier. ^^

The base color is China Glaze Sea Spray and it is entirely too dark and dull for this. The paints are done Michelle M31 and B56.

How does this look? I know I probably should have painted a white background but you wouldn't believe how much I hate painting my nails white.

Till next time!

Flat-Inspired Tape Mani

If you haven't seen Chalkboard Nail's Color Me Up Box Set Post, you haven't known awesome! The moment I set eyes on those pics, I knew I have to try to re-create it, even if I were to go down in it, like the Captain did in Titanic *cue dramatic music*

And this is what I did.

I didn't add white dots in the middle of the boxes because I wanted it to stay sharp. I do have to say, this is such a crazy mix of tape and polish!

I'm going to point out my mistakes now! My index cuticles aren't cleaned up properly, but for some reason, white polish always gave me trouble. =( In the pic, you can see the odd blue strip looking slightly wonky on my middle finger. That's because I tried to cover up a mistake with white polish but my hand slipped! And the tape on the fourth finger is not proportionate, so the 'boxes' appeared squeezed at the bottom.

Still, this is quite an interesting foray into tape nail art.

Nail polish used:
OPI Alpine Snow, China Glaze Kinetic Candy, OPI Skulls and Glossbones, TheFaceShop Coral

I know this is far from the neat tidy nails compared to ChalkBoardNails, but I am quite pleased with my creation. I just need more practice. Haha.

By the way, the colors were inspired by the colors of my flat. A few years (?) back they repainted it into sunny shades. I always wanted to create nails based on these set of colors and I finally got a chance! Hence, the title of this post.

That's all. Enjoy your weekend!

Tutorial: Bears

Hi, everyone!

I thought I would do a small tutorial on how to draw bears on nails. My friends wanted to see how I actually do it but with our timetables clashing, there's no way they can see it first hand. So the second best thing is to show how here.

This is a pic of my nails. The bear is on the index and middle nails.

I thought about how to go about doing the tutorial. So I took the easy way out. =D

The pictures are numbered from left to right..

This is created with a dotting tool only.
1) Once your base color dries, begin by drawing three dots, two in the corners, and one in the middle. This shall make sure your bear's head is not lopsided.
2) Slowly join the three dots and fill up the semi-circle. You can either use the dotting tool or with the brush for the bottle. Do be careful if you are using the brush though.
3) Add two more dots for the bear's ears. Create another semi-circle with another color. Make sure there is enough space for the eyes and nose.
4) With a smaller dotting tool, add in the accents for ears. Use the dotting tool to make black dots for eyes and ears.
5) This is the back of the bear's head.

That's it! It's easy for beginners so anyone can try. =)

This is my first tutorial so please tell me how I can improve on it! Thanks for reading!! ^^

Swatch: Zoya Apple

I am sure you have heard about Zoya Apple and seen swatches of it before. I got this a few weeks ago and only now swatching it!

This is 3 coats. The first coat was sheer but the second coat built up nicely. I put a third coat just because I am used to three coats. Easy application.

As you can see, it sparkles, shines, and shimmers. This is the perfect summer color!

Blue's Clues: The Bear Version

I don't have much to say so I am going to go straight to the point here. I did this after wearing plain nails for a day. I decided on a bear. The background color is A England Tristam, and the bear was done with China Glaze Kinetic Candy, China Glaze Electric Beat and China Glaze Liquid Leather.

I took this photo in the sun, trying to show the holo in Tristam. It is not obvious but I swear it is there. Love this mani! My bf pointed out that if I drew a dog, it would have been Blue's Clues and that's why I came out with my odd title. I have attached a pic of Blue's Clues. It is a kid's show.

That's all for today!
